  • Create a form template
  • Protect a form
  • Distribute online forms via email

Manage Multiple Related Documents

  • Do you work with multiple documents that you want to package together (for example, a complete procedure manual with multiple procedures)?

  • Combine documents using RD and INCLUDETEXT fields
  • Create a master Table of Contents

Use MS Word Templates to Automate Document Development

Prerequisite: Basic MS Word skills
Ask yourself:

  • Do you have certain words, phrases or paragraphs that you want to add automatically to documents?
  • Do you find understanding and working with sections intimidating?
  • Do you want to create automatic tables of content, indexes, lists of figures or lists of diagrams?
  • Do you want to automate your headers and footers so that the readers of your document know where they are?
  • Have you ever wanted to know how to create an automatic header that shows the first and last word on the page for a glossary?
  • Do you want to create an automatic reference to another section in the document?

Designed for anyone who works with large documents and/or who wishes to create MS Word templates to automate document development and/or content creation.

The workshop will enable you to:

  • Understand document design and layout considerations
  • Layout the document shell (sections, headers and footers)
  • Work with graphics
  • Create and modify customised styles
  • Use auto numbering
  • Use AutoCorrect and QuickParts to speed up content creation
  • Use document properties
  • Use Field Codes to automate adding frequently-used information
  • Create a custom Table of Contents
  • Use cross-references
  • Create a custom toolbar or ribbon
  • Record macros
  • Install templates

The last half day of the workshop will be set aside for participants to create and work with their own templates.

Prerequisite: Intermediate MS Word skills

  • Record macros
  • Understand VBA basics
  • Edit macros
  • Use macros to set document properties
  • Understand and work with variables
  • Create user-defined functions to automate repetitive formatting and other tasks
  • Use IF statements in VBA
  • Create a user form to capture frequently used information
